You can go direct to Google, but there are also alternatives. Here are our favourites.
Fabric case
This lovely official case from Google is a textured fabric shell for your new Pixel 2. Snap in the phone and gain a snug fit that’ll keep it free of dents while making the back grippier to hold. A couple of the cases can give your phone a bright punchy look or you can opt for a more muted design. You still have access to all ports, the camera and the fingerprint scanner.
Live case
This is a great idea from Google. You can customise your own case for your Pixel 2 or 2 XL using a photo of your own. Alternatively, you can use approved artworks Google has picked out or even customise a case based on a Google Map location. You can pick either a thicker dual layer case for £40/$50 or a slimmer one for £30/$40. Have a play around and see what cool creation you can come up with.
Tech21 Evo Check
Tech21 cases are known for their excellent quality rubberised finish and are even stocked in Apple Stores for the iPhone alongside the official stuff. This time it’s for the Pixel 2 and there are no compromises. The cases fit snug and secure, allowing access to all ports and buttons and even a ridged design so you can place the phone face down and not scratch the screen. Recommended. Get it for the Pixel 2 XL here (£34.95/ $44.95 in the US).
Snakehive
Snakehive do some of our favourite leather wallet cases, and their Pixel 2 and XL versions are no different. Available in a few colours, these genuine leather cases are well-crafted, with a magnetic clasp and a secure enclosure for the phone itself.
Olixar ExoShield
An affordable moulded plastic case for the Pixel 2 is a sure-fire winner. For a tenner, you get a see-through case that shows off your new phone and protects it from impact drops with the reinforced corners. It’s simple, but it might be all you need. Available here for the Pixel 2 XL (£9.99/$12.99).
Olixar Ultra-Thin
You could go even cheaper with this case from Olixar which is rubberized rather than hard plastic, meaning it’s incredibly grippy so you won’t drop your phone so easily. It isn’t the most hardy of cases though as the gel casing isn’t too thick, but it’ll keep it free from scratches and short fall dents. Also on sale for the Pixel 2 XL here (£5.99/$9.99).
This sturdy case from Zizo offers 2m/6ft of drop protection thanks to a rigid outer shell and flexible inner layer, so should keep your Pixel 2 safe – though the thick case makes it slightly awkward to reach the fingerprint scanner. There’s also a kickstand on the back if you want to prop your phone up to watch videos, and it comes in a range of colours. Here it is for the 2 XL (£9.47/$10.99).
This Olixar wallet may not be made of real leather – but if it were, you probably wouldn’t be able to get it for just £10/$10. This simple case holds your phone securely, with two additional card/ticket slots, and seals magnetically. Here’s the Pixel 2 XL version (£9.99/$12.99 + $13.95 shipping).
This minimalist Spigen case is dead simple, designed not to get in the way of the phone itself. The slim, matte black design isn’t exactly eye-catching but is definitely attractive, and has a slot inside for Spigen’s QNMP system – a metal plate so that you can attach it to magnetic car mounts. Here’s the XL version (£9.99/$11.99).
This flexible case from Olixar is one of our favourites for the Pixel 2, with an attractive design and an included screen protector. Grab it for the Pixel 2 XL too (£24.99/ $28.49 in the US).
