We think it’s a bit on the pricey side though, but there are plenty of alternatives to suit your budget.
If you’re looking for more functionality for your iPad Air 2 case then the Belkin Qode Ultimate Keyboard Case could be just for you. It’s made with aluminium alloy, and covers the front and back of your iPad Air when carried around in a bag. The built-in stand offers multiple viewing angles, and the QWERTY keyboard includes some dedicated iPad specific shortcut keys. Plus, the keys are backlit, and the cover can be removed if you’re not planning on using the keyboard for a while (if you’re presenting in a meeting, perhaps). It’s available in white/silver or black.
We’re big fans of Carved’s cases for smartphones but the US firm also makes one for the iPad Air 2. The Smart Cover & Wood Case easily snaps onto the iPad Air 2 (or the iPad Pro 9.7 in fact) and provides a great combination of style, protection and functionality. At the back is Carved’s laser cut wooden inlay made from your choice of wood and you can get a couple of arty design rather than just plain wood, too. The front is made from genuine leather and folds, including magnets, to create a stand for the iPad. View the range of Carved iPad cases starting at $59.
There are three varieties of Logitech’s iPad Air 2 case, the Blok Shell, Blok with built-in kickstand, and the Blok with built-in kickstand and detachable Bluetooth keyboard, so there should be something to suit everyone there. It’s designed to save your iPad even if you drop it from six feet directly onto concrete, no matter how it lands, thanks to square corners with extra-absorbent polymers. We wouldn’t advise testing that theory, but you can rest assured that your iPad is in safe hands with the Blok. It’s available in Black or Blue, and starts at the much more affordable price of £29.99.
Casemade’s Thin Case for the iPad Air 2 is a great option for those looking to protect their iPad while not compromising too much on its lightweight, thin design. It’s an Italian cowhide leather iPad Folio case that feels soft to the touch, and will age over time. It has a soft interior to protect the tablet further, too. Its design allows for full access to all ports, negating any need to remove the iPad from the case, and it supports Apple’s sleep/wake functionality. That, coupled with the ability to turn the case into a stand with two viewing angles makes Casemade’s Thin Case an attractive choice.
STM’s Studio case for iPad Air 2 uses a magnetic closure to keep your tablet secure, wrapping all the way round the iPad for extra protection. The magnets in the front cover also double as a sturdy and versatile stand that can be positioned in various angles, including portrait. The case is available in various colours, Moroccan Blue (pictured), Atlantis, Black, Chili, Dark Green, and Dark Purple. In the US, this case is available in Black, Dark Green, and Dark Purple.
Anker Bluetooth Folio Keyboard Case for iPad Air 2
If you’re looking to maximize style and functionality, this Bluetooth keyboard case may be the ideal option for you. Apart from the convenience of a keyboard, which should last 6 months between charges, this case also puts your device to sleep on closing. You can either prop your iPad upright with this folio case, or lay it flat on top of the keyboard. The microfiber lining protects your iPad from scratches. The only drawback is that the case covers one of the microphones on the device. If you run into any issues, though, this case does come with a 18-month warranty.
Supcase Unicorn Beetle Rugged iPad Air 2 Case
While the words “unicorn” and “beetle” may not seem like a seamless fit, the Unicorn Beetle case from Supcase is designed to fit the 2nd generation iPad Air 2 with precision, allowing easy access to all the ports and buttons. The polycarbonate and TPU exterior plus the integrated screen protector shields your device against drops. Plus, the nifty port caps keep dust and particles out. A great option for those looking for hardy protection at a reasonable price.
Inateck’s iPad Air 2 case is a soft but durable grey felt slip case that protects the tablet in transit, but requires you to remove the tablet when you want to use it. Cheaper than many rival cases, it may well be all you need to keep your iPad Air 2 looking smart and safe from bumps and scrapes. It will also fit an original iPad Air. A leather clasp attaches via a magnetic buckle to hold the iPad Air 2 snug inside the case, or you can fold it around to create a makeshift stand.
The Maroo Woodland case for iPad Air 2 is both gorgeous and sturdy, thanks to its lovely minimalistic design made with synthetic leather and dark woolenfelt combined with its patented SG Bumper Technology. We’ve seen iPads in Maroo cases flung through the air from a catapult and survive without so much as a scratch (although we wouldn’t recommend you try this at home!). It offers two viewing angles, too, a low angle for typing and an upright stand for videos or FaceTime.
Case-Mate’s Tuxedo case fits both the iPad Air 2 and iPad Pro 9.7in protecting it from bumps and scratches whilst providing a sturdy stand. It’s slim and sleek, available in black, and snaps onto the tablet, with a cover for the front too that’s lined in microfiber. Ashleigh is Tech Advisor’s Head of Affiliate.
