It seems a shame to hide your MacBook away when you’re travelling – unless it’s to stop getting mugged – so a suitable bag, backpack or briefcase is a must for the travelling laptop owner. Sena, the makers of many a top-quality iPhone and iPad leather case, have announced the subtly but suitably named Commuter Bag – a luxury carrier for Apple laptops from the 11-inch MacBook Air to the 15-inch MacBook Pro Retina. It has space for an iPad, too, in its own dedicated compartment. Available in burnished, vegetable-tanned dark-tan Brown or Black leather with gunmetal-finish hardware, the Sena Commuter Bag oozes retro quality charm and satchel style. Priced at £250 (US$382.94 including $12.99 international shipping from the US) the Commuter Bag is clearly no simple shoulder bag. Maybe only flush Apple laptop owners will feel the need to splash so much cash on a bag, but this is a business briefcase of undeniable style and top-quality finish and detailing. With ample pocket organization for documents, pens, and other essentials – with rather fetching shirt-style lined interior pockets – there’s not much a commuter can’t carry with them to and from the office – although it’s certainly no backpack, so the gym kit will have to be carried elsewhere. Vegetable-tanned leather ages with a natural patina and darker tone, and so the bag should just keep looking better and acquires a little lived-in feel. The central space features handy two-way zip pullers. The front pocket has a secure zipper closure, while a rear pocket is fitted with a magnetic closure. Our one quibble is that we’d prefer the detachable, adjustable shoulder strap to come up a little shorter. The Sena Commuter Bag will fit just about any laptop of 15 inches or under, but Sena is pushing it at discerning Apple users.
