Where are the Netflix Marvel shows now?
The new home for Daredevil, Jessica Jones, The Punisher, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders is Star on Disney+ for the UK, US, Canada, Ireland, Australia and Ireland. An account with Disney+ costs £7.99/$7.99 per month and £79.90/$79.99 per year. Parental controls allow these shows to sit on the main library – viewers can access them by allowing content above a certain age range to be present on the library.
How to watch the Netflix Marvel shows on Disney+ in another country
Whilst the shows are currently available to stream in a limited number of countries, they will come to other markets later in the year. If the shows aren’t available on Disney+ in your country then it is possible to use a VPN to stream them, providing you already have a Disney+ account. What are the Marvel Netflix shows about?
The Netflix Marvel series have a much darker and grittier tone than the classic MCU properties, and some of them have arguably the best performances of any Marvel show out there (in this author’s opinion, at least). They aren’t necessarily required viewing for Marvel fans – but Daredevil and Jessica Jones in particular are standout series. Here’s a quick summary of what each show is about:
Daredevil
Daredevil centres around Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a blind lawyer who also fights secretly as a vigilante called Daredevil. He protects the streets of Hell’s Kitchen, New York, from the tyranny of a criminal mastermind, Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio). Daredevil is the only Netflix show so far to have major connections to several MCU properties, including Spider-Man: No Way Home and Hawkeye.
Jessica Jones
Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) works as a private investigator in Hell’s Kitchen. She also possesses super strength, but vowed not to use her powers again after the manipulative Kilgrave (David Tennant) coaxed her into an unforgivable act. However, when Kilgrave rises from the shadows again, she must confront her fears, once and for all.
Luke Cage
Luke Cage (Mike Colter) gains super strength and unbreakable skin after an experiment went wrong. Cage becomes a fugitive and attempts to rebuild his life in Harlem, but a new threat tests whether he is truly a hero or a villain.
Iron Fist
Iron Fist follows Danny Rand (Finn Jones), a man who was presumed dead for 15 years. When he returns to New York, he wants to reconnect with his past and family legacy. He must fight against the criminal underworld with his martial arts skills and the power of the Iron Fist.
The Punisher
Frank Castle is a vigilante known for his lethal methods. His quest for revenge soon leads to a criminal conspiracy that spans farther than he had ever imagined. To better understand The Punisher, you should watch Daredevil first.
The Defenders
Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist all team up with one goal in mind: save New York. Whilst they are all burdened with their own personal struggles, they come to realise that they are strongest as a team. It makes sense to watch The Defenders after watching all four shows in which the main characters appear.
